Water’s edge

Water’s edge

This monotype was inspired by the interplay of blueberry branches and their shadows at the edge of Slough Pond in Brewster, MA. It was created by rolling transparent layers of color on to a plexiglas plate and then wiping away color in successive layers. I also used this composition as the subject for a small etching. Palimpsest with gold leaf

16 03 2008

A palimpsest is a manuscript, often on parchment, which has been effaced, but traces of the original text remain. This etching is composed of layers of ancient alphabets, similar to the way that one civilization is based on the foundation of those which have preceded it.
